Before
starting on this tutorial, I am going to show you
what I did using the original created Catalogue from
the First tutorial (Cat1
- how to create a catalogue).
If you
go to the 'My Documents folder, and open the Folder
in there where I placed this first catalogue called
'My first Catalogue', I will see it there
(Catalogues have its own graphical icon of CML - the
blue sphere).
The
intention is to use this empty catalogue shell and
call it a nicer name so I can start a proper
catalogue for my specific collection of Motorcars
Pictures.
I
right click the blue sphere |
|
 |
After
I right click the blue sphere I use the choice
'rename' and in the text field that opens I type the
name for my catalogue: Motorcars.
I then
click 'Save' or 'OK'.
The
blue sphere is now renamed appropriately
'Motorcars'.
I have
just renamed my previous Catalogue. Easy.
Double
clicking the blue sphere opens The Cataloguer
software and with this renamed catalogue in it.
Or you
could open it the conventional way (open software
first, then go to 'open-browse to the
catalogue-click 'Open' button) |
|

|
If you
were to visit the folder in my documents with the
catalogue file, you would see that when the
catalogue is open a temporary dataset file appears
now (only does when the catalogue is open). When the
catalogue closes this temporary file adjoining the
blue sphere will close. This is a requirement of the
software and not something one should delete of
course. Leave it alone while it appears and
disappears when it has to do so.
Now
for the tutorial. I have in the meantime started
creating my 'Motorcars' catalogue (the how to is
found in
Cat2,
Cat2b and
Cat3 tutorials, so I will skip that here). |
|

|
Here's
what my catalogue looks like so far. Note that my
catalogue has only Categories and no Sub-categories
- you design it the way you want, that's the point.
The
Category contents loads in the image area and has
you probably make out in the graphic, the headings
have been named to my satisfaction, serving my
needs. |
|

|
I'll
click on the Category 'Alfa Romeo' first image to
first E-mail it.
|
|

|
Once
Highlighted (the image) i can right click it and
pick from the choices to E-mail JUST THIS IMAGE. |
|

|
I can
of course E-mail multiple images from here and in
this case I would CTRL-Click each of the images and
then with the mouse over any of them I would
Right-Click and pick E-mail from the list of
options. This would E-mail all images highlighted. |
|

|
After
picking E-mail from the list, this screen appears
where one can fill the E-mail recipient address (or
if you want multiple recipients you can place a (,)
comma or (;) semi-colon between the addresses.
Fill
the subject and message in the respective fields and
click 'Send Mail'. |
|

|
Nothing will pop or show in the Cataloguer Software
but if you have to go to your E-mail agent software
(the default one), you will find it ready to be sent
in the outbox folder. |
|

|
Opening the outbox message confirms this including
the image/images placed as attachments. (in this
example to the left, I was going to send only one
image) |
|

|
In the
case of wanting to send the whole category or
sub-category, you can also make use of the
tree/directory area. Right-clicking the category or
sub-category and picking the choice 'E-mail' from
the list, does just that. |
|

|
Or
you can use it to send the WHOLE catalogue's images
via E-mail by highlighting the catalogue header
instead of a category or sub-category. |
|

|
Naturally, the choice is also obtainable from the
toolbar icon |
|

|
Or the
toolbar menu droplist under 'tools' |
|

|
Exporting to folder works much like the E-mail
facility and it is useful for placing the images
inside a folder that one can work with later without
disturbing the catalogue as these images are
actually copied across. Again one image (case
scenario on the left graphic) or multiple images
(below) can be handled with right-clicks.
 |
|

|
Likewise, for the whole catalogue, category or
Sub-category, and using the tree/directory area one
can do this

|
|

|
or by
picking the choices from the toolbar menu or icon.

|
|

|
The
action prompts the opening of a screen where one can
browse to the already pre-created folder or (see
where cursor is on the left graphic) you can create
the folder from the screen.
This
will transfer the image/images to the folder to work
with later.
I was
told that the this function will also serve a
purpose to do with the Editor software to be
released in the future so it integrates a specific
function of that software in the transfer of images. |
|

|
The
slideshow can be accessed via the right-clicks and
also from the toolbar menu
(I
click the Catalogue name in the tree/directory area
to ensure the whole catalogue will play in this
example) |
|

|
The
icon in the toolbar also actions the slideshow |
|

|
The
slide show screen pops up normally 'full screen' but
I prefer mine reduced to specific size.
The
scale control allows you to set the interval of
change of pictures, and the pause does just that
(changing to continue if pressed) |
|

|
To
size the screen of the slideshow I normally pause it
first then grabbing the edges (see where cursor is
positioned in the left image) I drag it to size.
Much like any windows software. |
|

|
Of
course to get it full screen you just maximize it. |
|

|
This
is where you would find the slideshow in the toolbar
menu choices.
You
don't have to wait for the pics to change at their
own (or set in the speed slider control) interval.
If you click the slideshow screen, the images change
immediately.
Again,
you can view category or sub-category slideshows if
you prefer not to see the whole catalogue.
In the
case to the left, I clicked just one category and
clicking slide show will show me only what's in this
category, nothing else. when it finishes the
slideshow window closes. |
